in her own words
K Kitchen Catering Ltd is Mrs Krishna Sonecha. She takes the booking, plans the menu and cooks it herself. She started the company in May 2023 while still working in an office, and built it at weekends around her husband and their twins.
Why I cook
My mum taught me to cook, and most of what I make still starts from her recipes. For years it was only a hobby: I worked in an office, cooked at home, and my colleagues started asking for my packed lunches.
What changed it was the pandemic. I began cooking for homeless people, and for elderly neighbours who could not get out. The way they thanked me was not really about the food. It was that somebody had thought of them.
Since then I have cooked for functions of up to 500 guests. There was no investor and no second kitchen. It was stubbornness, and my husband and my children carrying trays.
My signature dish is Manchurian. It is bold and warm at the same time, which is more or less how I would describe myself.
