Accessibility statement

01 What we are aiming for

This site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at level AA, which is the benchmark generally used in the UK for a website that everybody should be able to use.

We are a small catering business rather than a software company, so the rest of this page says plainly what has been done and where the limits are.

02 What has been built in

• Real HTML structure. Headings run in order, landmarks such as the header, navigation, main content and footer are marked up properly, and lists are lists. A screen reader can announce the page in a sensible order and jump around it.
• A skip link. “Skip to content” is the first thing you reach with the keyboard on every page.
• Everything works from the keyboard. Links, buttons, the mobile menu and the question panels can all be reached and operated with Tab, Enter, Space and Escape. While the mobile menu is open it keeps focus inside itself, and it returns focus to the button that opened it when it closes.
• Focus is visible. A solid outline is drawn around whatever you are on, in a colour chosen to stand out against the background it sits on: blue on the ivory pages, pale gold on the red and green ones.
• Contrast has been checked against the WCAG 2.2 AA thresholds, and body text sits well above the minimum. Colour is never the only way information is given.
• Text resizes. Type is set in relative units, so it follows your browser or phone text size setting. At 400% page zoom on a 320 pixel screen the layout reflows with nothing lost or cut off. Text-only scaling is covered separately below.
• Images have alt text that describes what is in the picture. Purely decorative marks, rules and icons are hidden from screen readers rather than described pointlessly.
• Motion is optional. If your device is set to reduce motion, every animation and transition on the site is switched off, including the sections that fade in as you scroll and the smooth scrolling itself. Nothing moves on its own, nothing plays automatically, and nothing flashes.
• Tap targets are sized for thumbs. Navigation, buttons and the call and WhatsApp actions are at least 44 pixels tall, comfortably above the 24 pixel minimum that WCAG 2.2 asks for.
• It works on a small phone. The layout is built mobile first and holds from a 320 pixel wide screen upwards.
• No audio or video plays anywhere on the site, so there is nothing that needs captions or a transcript.
• No time limits. Nothing expires, moves on or interrupts you while you are reading.
• Language is marked up. Pages are declared as British English, and the few words of Gujarati are marked with the right language so a screen reader pronounces them properly rather than reading them as English.
• No pop-ups. There is no cookie banner, no newsletter overlay and no chat widget covering the text. See the cookies page for why.

03 Reading the site without JavaScript

These legal pages need no JavaScript at all: they are text and links, and they can be read with JavaScript switched off or blocked.

Across the rest of the site, JavaScript adds the mobile menu, the reveal animations and the question panels on the home page. With JavaScript off, the content of each page is still there and still readable, and every page can be reached from the links in the footer, which are ordinary links. The one exception is noted in the next section.

04 How this has been checked

This statement was prepared in August 2026, when the site was built. The site was built against the requirements set out above and checked against them as it was written: the heading structure and landmarks, the keyboard order and focus states, the contrast values of every text and background pair, the behaviour with reduced motion turned on, and the pages with JavaScript switched off.

It has not been tested with every combination of screen reader, browser and device, and it has not been audited or certified by an independent organisation. We are not claiming an audit that has not happened. If you use assistive technology and something here does not behave, telling us is worth more to us than a certificate would be.

05 Where we know we could do better

• The site has not been independently audited, and it has not been tested by disabled users.
• On the home page the questions and answers are opened with JavaScript. If JavaScript is switched off they stay closed. The important facts in them appear elsewhere on the site, and you can always ring or send a WhatsApp message and ask.
• The photographs currently on the site are stock photographs. Their alt text describes what is in the picture, but none of them carry information you need in order to understand the page.
• If you raise your browser’s text size setting to 200%, some headings and long links on a few pages, mainly the terms and privacy notices, run wider than a narrow phone screen. You can scroll sideways to reach them, so nothing is lost, but it is not as tidy as the rest of the site. At 150% everything fits. Page zoom, which is the more common setting, is fine at every level we tested.
• We have not produced this statement in other formats. If you would like it in large print, as plain text, or read out to you, ring us and we will sort it out.

06 Things that are not ours

When you tap the call, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook or Food Standards Agency links you leave this website, and we have no control over how accessible those services are. If any of them are difficult for you to use, ring us instead and we will deal with you in whatever way suits you. Nothing about booking with us requires you to use a website or an app.

07 Tell us if something does not work

Please get in touch. It helps if you can tell us which page you were on, what you were trying to do, what happened instead, and what you were using to browse (the browser, the device, and any screen reader or other assistive technology) if you know.

We will reply. If something on the site is a barrier for you, we will fix it or find another way to get you what you need.

08 Our duties

As a business providing services to the public we have duties under the Equality Act 2010, which include making reasonable adjustments so that disabled people are not put at a substantial disadvantage. If you need something done differently, please ask.
